Particularly high growth rates of up to 39% are anticipated in Africa and Central America. In contrast, pork consumption in the European Union is expected to decline by 4% over the next ten years. The reasons for this include changing dietary habits and a greater awareness of sustainability.
Demand for pork generally increases with economic development and growing purchasing power. Significant growth is therefore predicted, particularly in emerging markets. Urbanization and modern trade structures also facilitate access to meat products. Despite global growth, pork producers face new challenges.
