The first shipment of meat products to the Republic of the Philippines was completed, following the recent opening of that market to beef, pork, and poultry products, as reported by the National Service for Animal Health and Quality (Senacsa).
The export consisted of 27 tons of bone-in beef, specifically the animal’s tail. “They have a typical dish there where they use the tail,  hence the importance of exporting bone-in meat  so that it can be part of their traditional cuisine,” said José Carlos Martin, president of the veterinary agency.
With the start of shipments to this destination, it is the second market to open to exports from our country, after Singapore, within the framework of the strategy to expand national products in Asia.
Senacsa highlighted that the Philippine market represents a significant growth opportunity for the livestock industry, considering its substantial import volumes of animal protein.
According to data from the  Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC), in 2024, the Philippines alone imported  208,000 tons of beef  (USD 624 million), 393,000 tons of pork (USD 527 million), and 478,000 tons of poultry (USD 461 million). Annually, they import more than USD 1.6 billion worth of protein.
