Strong demand for Belgian poultry from neighbouring countries

From 4 to 8 October, Cologne will once again become the global capital of the food industry and the meeting point for over 140,000 trade visitors from almost 200 countries. Belgian quality, craftsmanship, food safety, and tailor-made service are the four strengths that win over customers worldwide.

Ten companies will represent the Flemish poultry sector in Hall 9:
Artislach (C033), Chicken Masters (D034), Cooreman (C035a), Klaasen & Co (D038a), Nollens (C039), Paas Food Industries (C037), Pludis (D036), Van-O-Bel (D038), Wilki (D038a), Teker Group (D032).

According to Belgian poultry statistics, over 310 million animals were slaughtered in 2024. Driven by increasing demand for poultry meat, this marks a significant rise compared to previous years. As a result, the volume of poultry meat produced rose sharply to 538.5 million kg. Chickens, turkeys, and ducks are the most represented species.

In 2024, over 500,000 tonnes were exported abroad, with an export value of €1.2 billion. Alongside France, the Netherlands, Germany, and the United Kingdom are the main export markets for Belgian poultry. However, the reach extends much further, with more than 80 countries importing Belgian poultry meat, placing Belgium among the top 6 poultry exporters worldwide.
