According to official data in the United States, fresh beef imports totaled 134,653 tons in the first 24 days of January, a 9% increase compared to the same period last year.
Imports from Uruguay reached 12,217 tons, a 57% year-over-year increase.
Brazilian beef imports reached 21,491 tons, a volume 25% higher than the same period in 2015.
Imports from Argentine jumped 169% year-over-year to 4,873 tons.
Imports from Australia rose 6% to 40,040 tons, solidifying its position as the leading supplier. Imports from Canada fell 14% year-over-year to 18,329 tons, with a 10% decrease in purchases from New Zealand.
